Netia signs Warsaw interconnection agreement with TP S.A.


WARSAW, Poland - January 29, 2001 - Netia Holdings SA (Nasdaq: NTIA, WSE: NET), Poland's largest alternative fixed-line telecommunications services provider, today announced that an interconnection agreement has been signed with Telekomunikacja Polska S.A. ("TP S.A.") for the license areas of the Warsaw numbering zone. Warsaw is Poland's largest telecommunications market, with almost 300,000 businesses and nearly 1 million households.

Mattias Gadd, President and CEO of Netia, said: "We are delighted that the way has now been cleared for Netia to launch local voice services in Warsaw. Warsaw is the center of the country's business life, and is key to our strategy of becoming the provider of choice for corporate and SME markets throughout Poland."

The agreement, signed by the Management Board of Netia Telekom Mazowsze S.A., covers the exchange of telecommunications traffic between Netia and TP S.A. in Warsaw, thus enabling Netia to offer local connectivity as soon as the interconnection points are operational. Barring any unforeseen delays, Netia expects to be in a position to connect its first customers in Warsaw within weeks.


NETIA HOLDINGS is the largest alternative fixed-line telecommunications operator in Poland. Netia has 24 licenses for local telecommunications services in territories covering some 15 million people or approximately 40% of the Polish population. The Company's existing local telephone license territories cover six of the country's ten largest urban areas including Warsaw, Krakow, Poznan, Gdansk, Lublin and Katowice. Netia has also secured the benefit of a nationwide data and IP license to provide data transmission and Internet-based services. In May 2000 the Netia 1 consortium was issued the nationwide domestic long distance voice license.
