Netia and Linx Telecommunications B.V. sign MOU for commercial network services on Netia's backbone network
WARSAW, Poland - May 11, 2001 - Netia Holdings SA (Nasdaq: NTIA, WSE: NET), Poland's largest alternative provider of fixed-line telephony services, today announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Linx Telecommunications B.V. on the provision of commercial network services. Netia and Linx have agreed to negotiate the final terms of mutual lease of resources on both parties' networks and interconnection, and in particular, the acquisition by Linx of dark fiber on Netia's backbone network. The parties have agreed to finalize the details of the transaction by August 15, 2001, when the MOU expires.
Moni Buchnik, Wholesale Director of Netia, commented: "This is the first step towards expanding our service portfolio with commercial network services such as wholesale capacity and carriers, carrier business, leveraging the value of Netia's national backbone network connecting Poland's ten largest cities. We intend to further develop our existing backbone infrastructure with a view to establishing our position in this developing segment of the Polish telecommunications market."
