Netia appoints Kjell-Ove Blom as acting President and CEO following resignation of Mattias Gadd as President and CEO


Warsaw, Poland - September 6, 2001 - Netia Holdings (NASDAQ: NTIA, WSE: NET), Poland's largest alternative provider of fixed-line telecommunications services, today announced the appointment of Kjell-Ove Blom as the acting President and CEO, following the resignation of Mattias Gadd on September 5, 2001. Kjell-Ove Blom will act in this position in close cooperation with the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Morgan Ekberg. The Supervisory Board has initiated a search to fill the position of the President and Chief Executive Officer permanently.

Morgan Ekberg said: "We thank Mattias for his valuable contribution over the last year. We are at the same time happy to welcome Kjell-Ove Blom as acting President and CEO. His direct, very operational experience over the last four years with Netia in Poland will be the key to the Netia's ability to streamline its operations further and continue to enhance its competitive position".

Kjell-Ove Blom said: "The challenge ahead is sizable but most stimulating. I am confident in the significant talent we have at Netia to progress in our mission in Poland."

NETIA HOLDINGS is the largest alternative fixed-line telecommunications operator in Poland. Netia has 24 licenses for local telecommunications services in territories, covering some 15 million people or approximately 40% of the Polish population, which include the most economically advanced parts of the country. The Company's existing local telephone license territories cover six of the country's ten largest urban areas including Warsaw, Krakow, Poznan, Gdansk, Lublin and Katowice. In August 2001, Netia launched its domestic long distance services based on indirect access. Netia has also secured the benefit of a nationwide data and IP license to provide data transmission and Internet-based services.
