The appointment is effective as of January 1, 2001.

Mattias Gadd, 43, has extensive telecommunications and international management experience. Mr. Gadd, a Swedish citizen, has Master degrees in Science and Business & Administration from the University of Lund in Sweden and he attended the Staff College of the Royal Military Academy in Stockholm.

"It is a pleasure to welcome Mattias Gadd as the new CEO of Netia. Mr. Gadd's strong international business background and European telecom experience make him an ideal CEO to succeed Meir Srebernik. We look forward to working with him to build upon the success achieved by the Company as Poland's largest alternative fixed line telecom operator, and to deliver the benefits of Netia's nationwide position and growing array of services" said Kaj Juul-Pedersen, Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

Meir Srebernik, the current CEO of Netia Holdings S.A. who leaves the Company at the end of 2000, commented: "I have enjoyed my seven years at Netia, during which time the company has progressed from start-up to leader. I would like to thank Netia's employees, customers and shareholders for making this success possible. I wish Mr. Gadd the greatest success, and during the next few weeks, I will be working closely with him to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities."

Mattias Gadd said: "The Polish telecoms market is an exciting business opportunity. Poland has a large population and rapidly developing economy, expected to join the European Union in the foreseeable future. In a market driven by liberalization, rising penetration rates and new services, Netia has succeeded in establishing a strong brand and subscriber base - particularly among business customers. I am very much looking forward to the challenges ahead."
