Changes within Netia’s management board
WARSAW, Poland – September 14, 2006 – Netia SA (“Netia”, the “Company”) (WSE: NET), Poland’s largest alternative provider of fixed-line telecommunications services, today announced the resignation of the President of its Management Board, Wojciech Mądalski, with effect as of September 13, 2006.
Mr. Mądalski leaves Netia after four years in the post of President of the Management Board. Mr. Mądalski was instrumental in leading Netia after its financial restructuring, which took place in 2002-2003, and played an important role in the progress that the Company has made in recent years. He was also the central figure in the establishment of Netia’s mobile affiliate P4 Sp. z o.o. (“P4”), the award of Poland’s fourth mobile telephony licence to P4, and the recent signing of the agreement on national roaming between P4 and Polkomtel.
The Supervisory Board of Netia thanks Mr. Mądalski for his contribution to Netia and wishes him success in his future ventures.
The Supervisory Board of Netia has asked Mr. Pawel Karłowski to assume the role of Acting President of the Management Board of Netia. Mr. Karłowski is currently the Chief Commercial Officer of Netia and a Member of the Management Board. He has had a long career in the telecommunication industry in Poland and brings significant experience to the role.
In parallel with the appointment of Mr. Karłowski, the Supervisory Board of Netia has engaged an executive search firm to assist it in evaluating its options in identifying a permanent replacement for Mr. Mądalski. Mr. Karłowski will be one of the candidates under consideration for the position.
Mr Karłowski commented “I am looking forward to the challenge of strengthening Netia’s position as the leading alternative operator in the currently-liberalising Polish telecoms market and thus bringing greater choice and more competition to both business and residential customers. Netia is well-placed with both a fixed-line and mobile strategy, and human and financial resources, to implement that strategy”.
