Netia a market leader – first LLU customers already use the services provided by Netia

Netia is the first telecom operator in Poland to have started offering the local loop unbundling technology services. Unbundled local loops already function within the frame of the node commissioned at the TP switch in ul. Kaliska in Warsaw. A customer living in Szczęśliwicka St. was the first subscriber in Poland to take advantage of the LLU services provided by Netia.

Local loop unbundling (LLU) consist in another operator taking over the line (the so-called “last mile”) between the TP node and the residence of the subscriber. Depending on the selected unbundling option, the operator may provide any services, including voice and Internet access services.

- This is an important event, because local loop unbundling increases market competitiveness and provides subscribers with a chance to select the operator. Thanks to the decisions taken by the regulator the telecommunications market in Poland is becoming genuinely competitive. We are glad that the works on local loop unbundling are progressing according to our plans. We have already announced the activation of the first LLU-based services offered to customers in Warsaw. We shall start providing this service on a commercial basis next year - said Mirosław Godlewski, Netia’s President.
