Tom Ruhan, Netia’s management board member, appointed to the management board of ECTA
WARSAW, Poland – December 3, 2008 - Netia SA (“Netia” or the “Company”) (WSE: NET), Poland‘s largest alternative provider of fixed-line telecommunications services, today announced that Mr. Tom Ruhan, board member of the Company, was appointed a board member of the European Competitive Telecommunications Association (“ECTA”), effective January 1, 2009 for a two-year term.
ECTA - European Competitive Telecommunications Association - was founded in 1998 and represents the telecommunications industry to key government and regulatory bodies, looks after the regulatory and commercial interests of new entrant telecoms operators and inspires the development of the telecommunications sector in Europe.
“The appointment of Tom Ruhan to ECTA’s board underlines Netia’s role in the telecommunications sector, especially that a representative of an operator from a new EU state was appointed to the board for the first time in the organisation’s history” – said Mirosław Godlewski, Netia CEO. “This appointment is the acknowledgement of Tom Ruhan’s knowledge and experience and the role he plays in the development of pro-competitive policies in the Polish telecommunications industry” – he added.
