Netia has over 100k ETTH customers

During the past year Netia continued to consolidate the local internet service provider market that operate using ETTH technology (Ethernet To The Home). In 2009 Internetia, Netia’s subsidiary, acquired almost 17k active customers through purchases of ETTH networks. Developing its ETTH operations through acquisitions and organic growth is an important element of Netia’s strategic objective to grow to serve 1 million broadband customers.

In 2009 Internetia, Netia’s subsidiary, spent PLN 16.7m on acquisitions, purchasing 5 Ethernet networks (companies or organized parts of enterprises) with 16 925 active customers and the potential of a further 88k homes passed.

The 2009 acquisitions cost an average price per active customer of less than PLN 1k, being at a level comparable to the prices paid during 2007 and 2008.

The acquisitions were performed mainly in some of the regions of Internetia’s existing operations i.e. Lower and Upper Silesia (E-Tychy, Gaja from Krapkowice, Bater from Zabrze, D2D from Ruda Śląska). In addition, through the acquisition of Global Connect in December 2009, the Netia Group broadened its presence to another attractive region – Szczecin.

Effective Strategy

During the past two and a half years, the Netia Group – including the 5 transactions concluded this year – has acquired a total of 27 Ethernet networks, currently operating mainly within one company called Internetia. The networks are concentrated in the Lower and Upper Silesia regions, in Kraków and Białystok and its vicinity.

To date, Netia has spent PLN 101m for acquisitions of Ethernet networks. Several million PLN has so far been invested in the upgrade and modernization of these networks.
